26 Things I've Learnt in 2015

I sound like my mum but the years really do seem to go by SO much quicker the older I get. The start of 2015 feels like it was yesterday because I've had loads of fun - I moved to London with my friends, got my first ever proper career job, tried my hand at some new hobbies and went on some great holidays, to name a few!

However, at the same time I feel like I've come a long way from the person I was at the beginning of this year. Sure, I'm still massively a pretend adult and often wonder how my mother cared for a baby when she was my age while I can just about look after myself, but my first year and a bit since leaving uni has been pretty life-defining and I've learnt a lot in the process. I'm just about passing for a functioning, independent human being - hurrah!

Here are some of things I've learnt in 2015...

1. Seeing friends is a lot harder once you've all got jobs and commitments, but the ones that matter will make the effort to see you despite distance/time constraints

2. Charlotte from Gogglebox is funnier than most comedians on the telly

3. Finding time/effort to exercise when you work 9-5 is really hard and more often than not results in a half-arsed 10 minutes on the treadmill before calling it a day to go home and watch Gossip Girl.

4. 'Netflix and Chill' isn't as innocent as it sounds and realising you were Netflix and Chill-ed before it was a thing :-////

5. There isn't a single political party that is the 'good one'

6. That said, it's really important to exercise your right to vote if we want our generation to have a chance in the future

7. Coconut water is amazing and delicious, as is anything else containing coconut

8. Spending a bit more on a decent foundation that doesn't come off in patches and make your face look orange is worth the investment.

9.  There are a lot more racist people on my news feed than I thought (thanks Britain First...)

10. Doing things outside your comfort zone and facing your fears can be the best feeling ever - providing it's safe, of course!

11. The contraceptive implant makes me a bit mental for approximately 3 days per month

12. It's OK not to look like Kendall Jenner or Gigi Hadid - I don't have tiny amazonian legs but I do have two quite nice ones that I can run to the shops with if I want to.

Goaaaaalsss (am I using it right?)

13. One of the best things in life is finding someone who offers you a cup of tea before you've even thought you want one

14.  Decent eyebrows and a bit of contour can take you from a 5 out of 10 to a solid 7

15. Worrying about stuff you can't help is totally pointless and will only make you feel crap

16. London is outrageously expensive and its estate agents are total DICKS

17. Love is not all about grand gestures (although they are great sometimes). Someone who makes time for you and makes you feel like you are their first choice is what really matters

18. I have trypophobia (google it)

19. People who plaster their gym regime all over social media are annoying and serve no purpose than to make everyone feel bad (she says, while making a dent in a tub of Celebrations)

20. There are a lot of horrible people in the world doing horrible things, but there are also wonderful people trying to make the world a better place

21. The meaning of 'goals' and 'on fleek'

22. Secondary schools are now teaching Harry Potter books on the English curriculum - def would have got an A* if my homework was The Chamber of Secrets instead of Lord of the Flies

23. Finding a hobby that involves exercise is waaay better than spending £50 on a gym membership you won't use

24. You do not have to put up with a dick head boss who makes you feel rubbish. Leave! There is DEFINITELY something better out there.

25. It's much better to ask 10 questions about how to do something than to not ask and do it wrong.

26. There is no harm in giving someone a call to ask a question - it won't put them out as much as you think it will.
